Excellent piece of writing too! I liked the cheesy photo and I think "forced to shout in bad Japanese" should be the title of your next blog.
By the way, back in 1998, you couldn't spell queue.

No, they were all playing billards of course, the stakes being the peanuts, whose shells they'd spit on deck.
